About the Midwest Chapter

The Midwest Chapter/MLA is one of fourteen regional chapters affiliated with the Medical Library Association (MLA). The chapter promotes excellence in the practice of health sciences librarianship by providing its members with regional opportunities for:

  • leadership
  • continuing education,
  • professional development, and
  • peer interaction.

In addition, the chapter serves as a communications channel between MLA and the chapter’s members. Midwest Chapter membership is open to anyone interested in health sciences libraries, including non-MLA members and individuals living or working outside the chapter’s geographic boundaries.

Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association members:

  • Network with your colleagues at the Midwest Chapter’s Annual Meeting
  • Develop your skills at continuing education courses
  • Discuss hot topics on the chapter e-mail list and blog
  • Connect with other members through the online directory
  • Get funding through scholarships & awards
  • Learn about regional activities in the newsletter, MIDLINE
  • Promote medical librarianship by serving as an elected officer or a committee member
